Pep Guardiola criticized his Manchester City players for their 'unacceptable' collapse against Arsenal, who inflicted a 5-1 defeat. Despite recovering from a poor start, City conceded three goals in a seven-minute span, allowing Arsenal to dominate the second half. Guardiola expressed disappointment that his team abandoned their game plan in an attempt to salvage the match.
The Premier League champions recovered from an horrendous start and after wearing down the Arsenal defence Erling Haaland headed in an equaliser after 55 minutes. However, within seven minutes they were 3-1 down and a rampant Arsenal turned the game into a rout to make it only the second time Guardiola's City have conceded five.
"You can lose by two or three or four but the last 30 minutes we have to do it and we don't have a defence," he said. "We had a plan and we didn't do it because they have pride and want to solve it but that's not the way.
