The latest Liverpool transfer news with the midfielder one of the names linked with a move to Anfield over the last few days as preparations for the new season get underway.
With the 2023/24 season over, eyes turn to preparations for the new campaign. For Liverpool that will be under the stewardship of new head coach Arne Slot.
The 26-year-old has been with the club since signing from Lyon in January 2022. He has four years remaining on his current deal but the vultures are circling after Newcastle's failure to qualify for Europe, with Arsenal and Manchester City also linked. Liverpool therefore will have less than a month to make their move if they decide that they would like to sign Guimaraes this summer. Given the finances involved and the obvious FFP implications, that won't be an easy task.
"It has been a huge mix of emotions, but I'm certain that I gave my best at all times, as did the entire team. It was a season full of injuries, and I'm sure we could have done much more if we had been at full strength. Even so, I think we achieved a lot with the little we had this year. What Eddie Howe has said Following the final home game of the season, the midfielder seemed emotional with some fans taking that as a goodbye. But Howe moved to clarify the situation. “I don't think it's a wave goodbye,” he said.
"I think the most important thing that must happen is we have a stronger squad at the end of this window when we leave it. But there's no guarantees of that. I can only work as hard as I possibly can to make sure it happens."
