The Montgomery Office of Violence Prevention's planned balloon release turned into a protest.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - What started as a planned balloon release for gun violence victims turned into a protest outside Montgomery City Hall.Many protesters are demanding answers to the investigation and solutions to prevent other crimes against them.

“It’s not fair,” said the girlfriend of Daniel Lopez, who was killed in the shooting. “They took the money. They didn’t have to take their lives.” Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed assured protesters that he has heard their voices and promised better communication between both parties, adding the people responsible will be “brought to justice.”

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is offering an award for any information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information can call the center at 334-215-7867.
