Gunners fire again to easily brush aside dreadful Chelsea Arsenal return to the top of the table to keep slim PL title hopes alive

Arsenal were aiming to beat Chelsea in three consecutive league games for the first time since the 2003/04 season and made three changes to the side that lost at the Etihad, with Jakub Kiwior replacing Rob Holding, Leandro Trossard in for Gabriel Martinelli, and Thomas Partey rested for Jorginho who was starting against his former club.

But Arsenal, who had won five of the previous six meetings in all competitions, continued building from the back and controlling possession, and after eighteen minutes opened the scoring when Xhaka rolled the ball across the box passing two Chelsea players before arriving into the path of captain Odegaard who curled a beautiful left footed shot in off the crossbar.

Arsenal had dropped points in two recent games after 2-0 leads against Liverpool and West Ham, but went into the break fully deserving their three-goal cushion having cruised the game from the start against a Chelsea side fully capable of individual brilliance but clearly unable to play together as a team.
