Earlier reports suggested that the project was loosely inspired by the life of professional table tennis player Marty Reisman, but sources now indicate that it's a 'fictionalized original' film rather than a straightforward biopic of Reisman. Reisman passed away in 2012 at 82 years of age, with Susan Sarandon calling him a 'dear friend' and a 'major force in ping pong.'The timeline for production and A24's target release date are also still unclear at this time.
The movie, a drama inspired by the world of professional ping-pong players, will be Paltrow’s first film since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame;
