James Anthony Nolan faces criminal charges for fraud, assault with a weapon and reckless driving.

A British man whose family caused chaos while on holiday in New Zealand failed to turn up at court in the country then managed to flee using someone else’s passport.

He is linked to the family widely dubbed the ‘unruly tourists’ who were accused of trashing beaches, damaging their rented apartment, scamming restaurants and annoying locals and other holidaygoers during their short time in New Zealand in January.Nolan, along with fellow Brits Tommy Ward, 26, and William Donohue, 25, was arrested on 19 February after allegations of a roofing scam were made.

Nolan is believed to have used an eGate to scan the fraudulent passport which flagged him as a potential risk. But in a blunder that was described as ‘a case of human error’, he was waved through passport control by a customs official who failed to realise he was not the same person.
