Another customer had problems doing their online shopping
A Halifax customer has raised the alarm after being unable to make online purchases from major retailers including Tesco and Next. The customer reached out to the bank on July 23, stating: "I have been trying to make payments online to a few different retailers and these are being blocked by Halifax, can you tell me if there are any issues? Tesco, British Gas and Next are the ones I've had blocked.
In a similar incident, another individual contacted Halifax regarding their father's difficulties with online purchases. They explained: "When my dad pays for items online he has to verify by his mobile number. The bank suggested that network or signal issues could be causing the problem, asking: "As it needs a quick response, if there's any sort of network or signal issue then it'll likely time out. Does he use our app? ". The woman responded to the bank's query, assuring them that her father's phone was functioning properly.
A representative from Halifax then queried: "So is this when he selects a phone call? If he selects a text does that work? As these calls are an automated response some network privacy protections can block automated calls from connecting. Do you know if he has anything like that in place? ".
