It will allow police to disperse anyone in the area

A dispersal order will be in place in a Nottingham suburb over Halloween following antisocial behaviour in the area in previous years. The order will cover areas in Clifton , including Southchurch Drive, Flower Park and surrounding streets along the tram network.

It will be in place from 4pm on Wednesday, October 30, until 4pm on Friday, November 1. This is due to antisocial behaviour on Halloween in 2023, when fireworks were set off in the direction of members of the public, shops and police officers. The powers are granted under Section 34 of the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. They will enable officers to disperse anyone for the purpose of removing or reducing the likelihood of members of the public being harassed, alarmed or distressed, and to prevent crime and disorder.

The order requires a person to leave the area for up to 48 hours and failing to comply with it is a criminal offence. Anyone returning to the specified area after being moved on can be arrested and officers can return anyone under the age of 16 to their home address. A similar order was in place in Clifton in the areas surrounding the A453 from 7pm on Saturday, October 26, until Monday morning . This was in response to increased reports of vehicle-related antisocial behaviour and came after an increase in complaints from residents about antisocial car cruising and street racing.
