The fragile deal has so far held, quieting airstrikes and rockets and allowing for increased aid to flow into the territory
Hamas militants have transferred four female Israeli soldiers into the care of the Red Cross in Gaza City. They paraded the women in front of an assembled crowd before the handover took place. In response, Israel is poised to free 200 Palestinian prisoners or detainees later today, marking another step in the tenuous ceasefire.
Anticipation had been building in both Tel Aviv and Gaza City as people waited to see if the anticipated exchange would go ahead strengthening the fragile peace. "In a heartbeat, in a split of a second, their lives are going to turn upside again, but right now for a positive and a good side." On Saturday morning, Israel's military announced that preparations had been finalised to receive the hostages, provide them with medical care and personal support at initial reception points, before transferring them to hospitals and reuniting them with their families. Meanwhile, in Gaza City's central Palestine Square, an early crowd began to assemble as militants set up a cordoned area where the hostages would be handed over to the Red Cross.
