A special resident at a Hamilton care home celebrated her remarkable 101st birthday – and says the secret to her long life is “a wee whisky and red wine”.

Her first husband was called James and her second husband, Bill. She has three sons and a daughter, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and celebrated the special occasion with her family. Lily was presented with cards, gifts and even a sash and badge as she turned 101, and celebrated her birthday with a party including a personalised cake, special buffet, dancing with family and friends and lovely singing from Lauren Kyle, one of the residents’ favourite entertainers.
