The knitted toppers have delighted locals🧶
The knitted couple first appeared outside the Thornwood post office last autumn. The pair recently got engaged last month and were looking forward to a wedding this year.
Creator, Eileen McBride, was also looking forward to creating a baby for the budding family next summer. However, she was disappointed to find that her hard work had been snatched away. She posted on Facebook: "To the person who removed the postbox topper from outside Thornwood PO - I would like to say that I hope taking or destroying it has made you happy.
"I am not being sarcastic; I really mean it. To steal or damage something pleasant and harmless, which is of no monetary value, and which quite a few people have said they enjoyed seeing, you must be a very unhappy person.Residents were left upset when they read Eileen's post and realised the knitted figures were gone.Another agreed: "Lowest of low to do something like that."
Eileen told Glasgow Live : "It isn't unusual for toppers to be destroyed or taken. Thornwood has mostly been kind to mine but one or two have gone."Petition to save 'lifeline' First Bus Glasgow services at risk of being cutPaisley mum's 'world collapsed' moment she was told son had rare disorder
