Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham opens up about her journey with infertility and welcoming her miracle daughter Kitty - who could be following in her star-studded footsteps
Ted Lasso's Hannah Waddingham has opened up about her daughter Kitty's budding talent, revealing she's following in the theatrical footsteps of her family. Speaking about ten year old Kitty, who is already showcasing a remarkable singing range, Hannah attributes it to the performing arts being in their blood – much like her own impressive four-octave vocal capacity.
The actress shares her daughter with Italian businessman Gianluca Cugnetto, whom she was in a relationship with for eight years. While she has been discreet about her separation from Gianluca, with their final public outing being the Olivier Awards in April 2022, Hannah has since declared herself as "a single mother", reports the Mirror.
"Hannah faced further heartache when Kitty ended up in hospital after she was "suddenly taken very ill". She was later diagnosed with the auto-immune disorder Henoch-Schönlein purpura , a condition that affects young children and involves swelling of small blood vessels, and can often lead to kidney issues. It took the star many years before she could publicly open up on the trauma of what her little girl went through.
Hannah's life underwent a significant transformation as she received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021 and the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021, as well as in 2022.
"One of my earliest memories is of me and my mum standing outside the bathroom door, my dad inside, and she said, 'Tell Daddy what you want to be when you grow up? ' And I went, 'I want to be a lady who takes her clothes off! ' And I kind of am! " Earlier this year, Hannah made a return to the big screen alongside Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy, while 2025 will see her star opposite Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
