Sony Pictures has released the first official look at the upcoming family comedy film Harold and the Purple Crayon, starring Zachary Levi.
The film adaptation of the 1955 children’s book of the same name will be penned by writing duo David Guion and Michael Handelman . John Davis will produce it through his Davis Entertainment banner.
Alongside Levi, Harold and the Purple Crayon will also star Lil Rel Howery, Zooey Deschanel, Jemaine Clement, Ravi Patel, Camille Guaty, Tanya Reynolds, and Pete Gardner.centered around the story of a four-year-old boy who, with the power of his crayon, created worlds around him. The book was then followed by six other books and was also adapted into a TV series by HBO in 2001-2002.
Levi is best known for his superhero role in DC Films’ Shazam! which grossed $365 million at the worldwide box office. He also first gained recognition as the lead star in NBC’s long-running spy comedy series Chuck which ran on air for five seasons from 2007-2012. For his performance in the 2016 play She Loves Me, Levi earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.
