Vice President Kamala Harris is trying to pressure former President Donald Trump to agree to debate her before voters head to cast a ballot in the presidential
election as she tries to build on early success while he tries to maintain a narrow lead.
But he has deflected on whether he will show up to the September debate since Harris became the likely Democratic nominee with his campaign saying at first that itbefore someone was formally nominated. He has also suggested the debate should be moved from ABC News, calling the network “fake news.” But he may not have that opportunity in the general election against Harris, especially if the polling boost from her“If it’s a margin-of-error, tied race or even if Harris is a little bit ahead, then you just have so much less leverage to miss an opportunity like that,” said Aaron Kall, the director of debate at the University of Michigan.said he will “probably” do it"I want to do a debate. But I also can say this. Everybody knows who I am. And now people know who she is," Trump said.
