Three individuals, including an inmate, have been charged with money laundering and organized criminal activity in Harris County for operating a narcotics smuggling ring within a local jail.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, along with Assistant District Attorney Kim Smith from the Public Corruption division and representatives from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, held a news conference to announce criminal charges related to a major ongoing money laundering investigation at the Harris County Jail .

According to court documents, between October 15, 2022, and June 27, 2024, the trio engaged in money laundering by conducting transactions involving funds between $2,500 to $30,000 from the sale of controlled substances.
