Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says the auto theft operation has possible ties to a cartel.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is currently involved in a bust of a suspected stolen vehicle operation with possible ties to a cartel. The bulk of the operation is happening in the 200 block of Leago.The law enforcement operation spanned three locations on the north side of Harris County. The vehicles recovered have a value of more than $1 million, primarily pickup trucks and high-end vehicles.

Five people have been detained so far, as authorities stress they are in the early stages of the investigation and more arrests are expected. There's no immediate word on potential charges.
