No objections were received to the plans for the new use, with one objection to the separate planning application for works to a listed building.Historic England has said during works on the building specific care must be taken to treat dry rot in the building.: “As an architect, I am incredibly passionate about restoring The Harris Institute to its former glory and ensuring it becomes a thriving hub for Preston once again.

“This is a crucial step in safeguarding the Harris Institute’s legacy, taking it off Historic England’s ‘Buildings At Risk’ register, and delivering much-needed spaces for gallery exhibitions, co-working, and cultural engagement. Preston deserves this, and we hope to secure the backing of the Planning Committee next week to make it a reality.
