Ipswich Town defender Harry Clarke joins Sheffield United on loan to bolster their promotion push in the Championship.
Ipswich Town defender Harry Clarke is set to join Sheffield United on loan after undergoing a medical at Bramall Lane on Wednesday (29 January). The 23-year-old, who played a pivotal role in Ipswich's promotion to the Premier League last season, has seen his playing time reduced in the top flight this year. Clarke has made just eight appearances across all competitions for Kieran McKenna's team in the 2024-25 campaign.
A number of Championship clubs expressed interest in Clarke, but Sheffield United acted swiftly to secure a loan deal for the former Arsenal player. The Blades, currently sitting second in the Championship under Chris Wilder, have been actively strengthening their squad this month to bolster their promotion push. They have already signed Tom Cannon, Ben Brereton Diaz, and Hamza Choudhury during the January transfer window. Clarke rejoined Ipswich two years ago after leaving Arsenal on a free transfer and is contracted at Portman Road until June 2026. Ipswich also possess the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months. During Ipswich's successful Championship promotion campaign, Clarke made 39 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist
