Harry Redknapp has slammed Harry Maguire’s critics amid his brilliant Champions League and Premier League displays for Manchester United.
It is a welcome scenario for Maguire, who found himself demoted below Victor Lindelof and unorthodox centre-back Luke Shaw in the pecking order towards the end of last season. The 30-year-old was handed eight league starts by Erik ten Hag last term, with his role as United skipper and previous £80m price tag, combined with his continued selection for England, leading him to become a figure of ridicule.
Naming his team of the week, Redknapp told Betvictor: “I’m delighted to pick my next player, Harry Maguire. Harry has had so much stick over the last couple of years and a lot of it has been completely rubbish.
