The 65-year-old teacher and grandmother, who did not wish to be named, said: ‘To say that I am pleased is an understatement.Despite signs of wear and tear, the book sold for £33,000 AdvertisementShe explained that when she saw the well-used books in the skip outside her old school in Buckinghamshire she decided to save them so they could be enjoyed by her grandchildren.
‘At the time, I had no idea they were of any value, and neither did the school. They had been well read and the school always ensured its library was pristine for Ofsted inspections.’
