The final part of the ECHO's chat with Harvey Elliott sees the Liverpool star open up on a career-threatening ankle injury as he reveals his next major goal at Anfield

Having returned from a hugely productive loan spell at Blackburn Rovers, Harvey Elliott set about establishing himself as a first-team star at Liverpool in the early weeks of the 2021/22 campaign.

For most teenagers on the cusp of a real breakthrough for their boyhood club, such a setback would have been tough to take but Elliott had the wisdom to see the bigger picture and Klopp's help proved to be invaluable over the coming months. After five months out of action, he was cleared for a return in early February, arriving as a substitute in an FA Cup win over Cardiff City before becoming the youngest player in club history to start a Champions League knockout tie for Liverpool, aged 18 and 318 days, as the Reds beat Inter 2-0 at the San Siro.

Speaking to the ECHO at Chesterfield High School in Crosby to coincide with the launch of his brand new New Balance boots, Elliott admits to the doubts that crept in after his comeback. If Elliott's post-injury plan was to become the established option he was on the verge of being before that ankle setback, it was one that worked the following season as he made 46 appearances in total.

"I feel like the way the boys have been so far and all the positivity and the buzz around the club, I feel like this one is going to be a good one." "Whenever a new player comes in, whether it is a younger player or a more experienced player, it's not just myself but the rest of the team are around them as quickly as possible and trying to bed them into the group, the club and show them the Liverpool ways," he says.
