Leeds United remain second in the Championship yet Ipswich Town only need five of their remaining nine available points to guarantee Premier League football from August
Pressure to finish in the Championship’s top two will be kept on Leeds United shoulders by Daniel Farke until it is mathematically impossible. The manager has conceded nerves have been a problem in the camp over the past week, but even after Friday’s 4-0 rout at Queens Park Rangers, Farke declined the chance to accept their play-offs fate.
“We have to be honest about this. The race is not over. Congratulations definitely to Leicester , they are promoted and also well deserved, but in comparison to Ipswich, nothing is over. Without accepting the top two was now beyond them, Farke did at least acknowledge the play-offs seem a more realistic fate for his team. As Friday showed, though, this league is sometimes crazy, in his words.
“If this is not possible for us, then we go for the second bullet, but before we concentrate on the first one.”
