Hawthorn football boss Rob McCartney was disappointed by the actions of young guns Jack Ginnivan and Nick Watson, but stressed it’s important to not judge the pair on an “isolated incident”. The two players were expected to appear at a kids’ clinic last Sunday, the morning after the club’s best and fairest night. But kids were left devastated and parents fuming when Ginnivan and Watson pulled out an hour before it was due to start.
“They are two players who actually give more than most.” He finished by the saying the pair were “definitely” remorseful and pleaded with the public not to judge them on this one incident. “If you knew both these young boys to the level that I do, they are not young men who want to disappoint anyone, let alone young kids,” he continued. “And the time that they invest into young kids ... here at training when supporters are watching, they are two of the last boys to walk off.
