Philip Worthington's sister Carol only found out he had died when she was tracked down by the coroner
A woman found out her long-lost brother had died when she was tracked down by the coroner to assist with his inquest.
When Philip's landlord went round to the house, which had been converted into a house of multiple occupancy, he found the door to his downstairs flat was locked. When he tried to gain entry he discovered Philip was dead behind the door.At an inquest held today , at Blackburn Town Hall, Detective Inspector Darren Irving said he had been called to the scene when police spotted what they thought were injuries on Philip's body.
Carol told Senior Coroner Dr James Adeley that she hadn't seen her brother in 15 years. The pair had become separated as youngsters and she hadn't even known he had moved from their home city of Salford. Philip had been taken to hospital on four occasions in the last four years having suffered an accidental overdose. Although there were references in his medical records to him feeling suicidal there was no evidence to suggest his death was deliberate.
