Det. Lt. Brian Tully, the commander of the Massachusetts State Police unit that investigated Karen Read, has been reassigned.
New Massachusetts State Police Col. Geoffrey Noble decided the move"is in the best interest of the Department’s public safety mission," but didn't elaborate, has been transition to a different department for the time being and that the agency is hiring for his old job leading the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office's detective unit.
Tully testified in the Read trial. Trooper Michael Proctor, who was in his unit and led the Read investigation, has been suspended without pay over disparaging remarks he made about Read that came to light in the trial. The police statement said that new Massachusetts State Police Col. Geoffrey Noble decided the move"is in the best interest of the Department’s public safety mission," but didn't elaborate.The Massachusetts State Police has posted a vacancy for the position of unit commander of the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
