LG’s reply to Samsung’s brilliant S95C TV is emphatic. The LG G3 is amazing.

Out of the box, we like the picture on the LG G3 better than the picture on the Samsung S95C, just as we liked the defaults on the C3 better back in May. This time, LG’s picture is very noticeably better, particularly when both TVs are in Filmmaker Mode, which is as close as possible to the image you’d see at the movies.

It’s a problem that Samsung has gone some way towards solving with its S95C, which uses quantum dot technology both to improve image brightness, and to improve depth of colour. And what we really, really didn’t expect was the impact this would have on colour saturation. We thought the LG would beat the Samsung for brightness, but that the latter would still win on colours, due to its quantum dots.
