He is said to have told a pregnant teacher: 'that will teach you to open your legs'

A married headteacher who had an affair with the mother of a pupil has been banned from teaching. Aled Rees also made a "sexist and misogynistic" comment towards a 25-year-old teacher.

Reed said "that will teach you to open your legs" or words to that effect to a pregnant colleague and the man was found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct by an Education Workforce Wales panel. The derogatory comment was said to have been made during a meeting in his office. Owain James, legal representative for the EWC, told the last day of the remote hearing on May 5 it was "highly unlikely Elen Davies would appear before this hearing and lie". He added that it was "a shameful comment" and said: "There is no role in a professional relationship for such language. It implies sexist and misogynistic feelings".

A hearing heard how the headteacher left the school site often without explanation, and that the woman he was seeing called at the school so frequently that office staff recognised her phone number. The woman's husband revealed the affair to a fellow teacher shortly after March 2020 as Mr Rees told the panel he had been struggling with issues in his personal life.
