James Martin, from Linwood, has been named by Police Scotland as the 45-year-old motorcyclist who sadly lost his life in a crash near Abington on Friday, September 27.
The incident happened at around 6.40pm near junction 13, northbound, and involved a black Harley Davidson motorcycle and a blue Ford Focus car.

Asking for privacy during this difficult time, his heartbroken family has shared the following statement: "We would like to thank Lanarkshire Road Policing and everyone who stopped to help and all other emergency services who attended.Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Martin. His family has asked for their privacy to be respected at what is a very difficult time for them.
