Lee Lovell shares challenges of parenting after his wife Emma was murdered last Boxing Day in Australia.

A teenager has today been cleared of murdering a British woman during a burglary in Australia , sparking fury from her grieving husband who says he is the one living with a 'life sentence'.

But a second man, who was 17 at the time of the attack and also cannot be named, was dramatically acquitted of murder today following a trial without a jury. His voice trembling with anger and grief, Mr Lovell added: 'We are the ones having to live with this afterwards and they get to carry on doing whatever they were doing... we are the ones left with a life sentence now.'

'I am not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that the accused was a party to this murder,' the judge said. The court heard the couple had attempted to fend off the intruders after they had been woken by their dogs barking at about 11.30pm. Her husband wrote in a Facebook post on Christmas Day 2022, the day before she died: 'So for the first time in 11 years we spent Christmas day on the beach and even managed to cook up some bacon and eggs!'Hours after the post - when the family had returned home to their bungalow in North Lakes, Brisbane - they woke up to find intruders in the hallway.
