Tributes have been paid to a loving grandfather who would travel to cheer on his granddaughters as they shared their musical talents with audiences.
. His daughter, Karen, said: “He was a good dad and granddad.“He was so proud of all of his grandchildren. He was good with his hands and he was always tinkering with something. He loved his sports, especially golf and football and he could have been a professional footballer if it weren’t for the issue with his knees.”
After his national service, he took up HGV driving and then designed fitted kitchens with Howarth Timber in Burnley. Arthur, who was one of seven children to parents Annie and Jack, bought a newsagents in Burnley with his wife of more than 40 years, Joyce which they ran for around four years. They loved travelling together especially on cruises and they enjoyed adventures in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and New Zealand. The devoted grandfather-of-six was a valued member of Baxenden Golf Club.
