Surplus to Purpose (SToP), a Leeds-based non-profit organization combating food waste, has been the victim of a burglary. Two safes, food, and money were stolen from the social supermarket. Police have arrested a suspect and recovered the safes.
The burglars struck Surplus to Purpose shortly before 4am on Tuesday, November, 26, when two brazen thieves broke through several security doors and entered the warehouse. Surplus to Purpose is an innovative social enterprise tackling the critical issue of food waste .
Police have since arrested one man and were able to retrieve the two safes. Officers have asked anyone with information to come forward. "Males were seen to run from the premises as officers arrived and enquiries at the scene led to the arrest of a man on suspicion of burglary.
