Ahead of the premiere of Heartstopper Season 2, we caught up with the author of the book series and show creator Alice Oseman (AliceOseman) 🏳️🌈 She teased a beautiful moment in the upcoming season that will even surprise fans of the comics!
While those who have read the webcomic series and graphic novel by Alice Oseman may have some inkling of the direction of the story, the writer and illustrator – who also wrote and created the TV series onDuring a recent conversation with, Alice shared that they were ‘really excited’ to see the moment in question brought to life on screen, recalling how ‘beautifully performed’ it was by the actors.
The writer also hinted at how the second season will evolve from the first, as the world ‘gets bigger’ for the protagonists, who get up to ‘all kinds of mischief’ while they’re away from their parents on a highly-anticipated school trip to Paris. Speaking of the scene that will be completely unfamiliar to those who have read their written Heartstopper works, Alice revealed: ‘I won’t spoil it, but there is a really beautiful scene at the end of episode three, which is not in the comics at all, and I was really excited to see that come to life.
‘It’s just a quiet scene where Nick and Charlie have a conversation, but it’s a kind of big turning point in their relationship and their understanding of each other, and it’s so beautifully performed by Kit and Joe. I’m really excited for people to see that because it will be a surprise. It’s not something that’s in the books. So, yes – can’t wait.
