Heartstopper's Yasmin Finney: 'I've had representation from a young age'

Transgender star Yasmin Finney claims she wouldn’t be showbusiness without role models like Laverne Cox. In the popular Netflix drama Heartstopper which returns for season two, Yasmin plays transgender schoolgirl Elle Argent who struggles with her feelings for close friend turned crush Tao Xu.

“I know I’m 19, but representation is such a powerful thing and all it takes is for someone to look like you, act like you, have the same voice, the same style, the same belief on-screen and that’s it. It’s inspiring and it’s powerful and it’s the future.” As the new series of Hearstopper begins, Nick and Charlie attempt to navigate their new relationship.
