"Things like headaches, even nausea, those are some early signs of the heat is getting to them and those are the times that you want to get inside, hydrate, and try to remain cool," said Dr. Frederick Davis, of the Long Island Jewish Medical Center There are plenty of places to beat the heat across the island, like the Aquatic Center in Eisenhower Park."It's a great place to hang out if you guys want to stay away from the heat," he said.Plenty of other public pools will open up across the island Friday.
All five pools in the Town Of Oyster Bay will open Friday and residents can swim for free. The ice skating center in the Town of Oyster Bay on Stewart Avenue in Bethpage is open from 9 a.m. until 11p.m. through Friday.State park beaches are another option to cool off, but admission is not free like it has been Wednesday and Thursday.
