Our Wednesday will be hot, hazy and humid with highs in the low to mid 90s and oppressive heat index values above 105.
) - It continues to feel like mid-July. There will be a few scattered showers and storms around in the afternoon. These could be briefly heavy with a lot of lightning.
Rain chances increase in the coming days as a front moves south to our area and stalls out. This will give our area a 60% chance of rain Thursday, but even higher chances 70-80% Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. With the increased rain chances will come somewhat cooler temps and the highs will only be in the upper 80s as we head into the weekend.
There is good news at our beaches. The Gulf and the surf will be fairly quiet in the coming days with low rip current risk through the end of the week and into the weekend. That said, never turn your back on the Gulf and always check the local beach flags when you arrive at your spot. Large plumes of Saharan dust are keeping things quiet in the tropics.
