sday expect partly sunny skies with highs in the lower 90s along with a 60% chance for showers and thunderstorms across the NBC 15 neighborhood.
For the Fourth of July holiday, we'll see a pretty typical July day. Highs surge back into the low to mid 90s with even higher heat indices. The best chance of wet weather will be during the afternoon. When it's time for fireworks, plan on a slight chance of after the sun goes down. At the beach the risk of rip currents will be low through the 4th, but is expected to increase Friday into the weekend. Always check the flags before entering into Gulf waters.
TROPICS - We continue to track Hurricane Beryl, now the earliest category 5 on record. Beryl is not done yet. After striking the Windward Island early Monday as a category 4, it's now moving WNW through the Caribbean. The center should pass near or over Jamaica this afternoon as a major hurricane and near or over the Cayman Islands tonight or early Thursday. As Beryl tracks through the Caribbean, some weakening is expected due to increased wind shear.
Elsewhere in the tropics, we are watching a tropical disturbance east of the Windward Islands, it has a low formation chance.
