The pass will give them unlimited tram travel across Nottingham for a year.
Operators of Nottingham's tram network have confirmed students in the city will benefit from a heavily discounted pass this year. Those studying at both Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham can purchase a ticket lasting the whole academic year.
That means for £200, they will be able to have unlimited tram travel across Nottingham between September 2023 and next July. Alison Sweeney, Head of Marketing at NET said: "Whether students are freshers or refreshers, we're really looking forward to meeting them as they head back to Nottingham for their studies.
"The cost of living is affecting everyone, so we’re pleased to be able to offer cheaper travel so they can study and see friends without any cost barriers. We have tram stops at popular student areas like Beeston, Highfields Park and Forest Fields and serve all major campus locations in Nottingham, making the tram a key part of the university experience."It comes after operators of Nottingham's trams acknowledged that many customers would be "feeling the pinch.
Separately, Nottingham City Transport is offering discounts to encourage people not to use their car as part of 'World Car Free Day' on Friday . All tickets purchased on Friday will be subject to a 10% discount.
