'People need to realize the extent of the crisis, people really do'
A heavily pregnant Derry woman has said she has become "desperate" to find housing after being told she must move within days from her temporary accommodation in a local hotel due to the city's Halloween celebrations.
"There's a severe crisis," she said. "There's newborn babies on my floor at this hotel. So while I'm in a dire situation, there's people that are worse off than me too, that are in the same situation.Amy said she has been told she must move from the hotel she has been staying due to the city's Halloween celebrations, when visitors flock to Derry from across the world.
"When I fell pregnant, I was sharing a room with my sister. I was actually on a blow up air mattress. I had to seek alternative accommodation because of the fact that I was pregnant, you know, just to make sure that I had a bed." "My baby's stuff is scattered across three houses. I have a pram in a box in my mum's hall. I have all my wee baby stuff in boxes.
"Within 10 weeks my baby will be here and I'm not able to have my excitement. I can't get a wee nursery ready. How can I have a nursery when I don't even have a bedroom?
