Rather than pay an additional 3 percent in rent, the tenants will stay at their current rate through the end of the year and on month-to-month leases beginning in January 2025.

When this photo was taken in 2023, two of the larger-scale tenants on the sign, Ensemble Theatre and Family Connections, had already moved out the year prior from the Coventry PEACE Campus. Building occupancy is currently 41 percent. As the building owners, Heights Library officials say they can no longer "kick the can down the road." The library's realtor has been fired after asking for a raise.

The current 18-month lease expires at the end of June and the tenants had an April 1 deadline to renew with the proposed rent hike totaling 12-cents per square foot.
