The dog was immediately brought to a veterinary clinic to undergo surgery. Bonbon is now recuperating after the delicate operation.He added that the dog is stable and that he did not see any complications arising from the procedure. The Cebu City Council took note of Bonbon's situation and sought the assistance of the police to identify the suspect who stabbed the dog.
Under Republic Act No. 10631 or the Animal Welfare Act, persons found to have committed animal abuse may face imprisonment of up to two years and fine of P100,000.
