Mills is old enough to remember the reign of King George V, the grandfather of the Queen. “Even though I’m nearly 99 I’ve still got my marbles,” she says. “I remember on the 25th anniversary of King George’s reign, my brother took me up to London to watch his carriage go down the Mall,” she tells.
