In the opening paragraph of Angelina Kendall’s profile in the January issue of British Vogue, fashion features director Julia Hobbs likens the origins of a supermodel to the creation myth. “The world before she appears, formless and desolate,” she writes. “Then the lights suddenly flick on, and there she is.” The truth, as Hobbs discovers, while shadowing the 19-year-old at Paris Fashion Week, is not so much an act of divine kismet, but toil and graft and thick-skinned determination.
