Brian Conlon's bravery stopped the rampaging thug from hurting his butcher.
A hero driver mowed down a sword-wielding thug who was chasing his butcher through a town centre. Brian Conlon had feared a terror attack was about to unfold at the hands of rampaging Paul O’Neill, who was also carrying a bottle of petrol.
Brian said: “Most of the customers left the shop. The street outside was busy and there was panic. I saw O’Neill carrying a large bladed weapon. He was chasing Ryan Moffat. Members of the public were awarded medals for their bravery in tackling the men, one of whom had set himself on fire. Mr Jones told the jury: “Brian Conlon thought this was a potentially deadly attack by O’Neill.
