Manager Ash Hameed was working at the family shop in Stevenson, North Ayrshire, when a 'disturbance' broke out between two customers on August 9.
CCTV cameras captured the moment a hero Scots shopkeeper tackled a teenager armed with a meat cleaver.
Miraculously, the dad-of-three and a colleague managed to separate the youngsters and get them out the store without anyone being seriously injured. “We managed to get the meat cleaver off him and get them both out of the store before calling the police. I think there were about five police vans and three cars. But Ash, who has run the store for 23 years, told how escalating violence in the area is causing him real concern for his livelihood and the safety of his family.
“This is a busy store and there could have been children in here at the time. Somebody swinging a weapon like that around doesn’t bear thinking about. “Normally I have my kids in the store. My youngest is only three-years-old so I’m very glad they weren’t here.”
