Forget about Barcelona and Benidorm -San Sebastian is the place to be, and British Airways fly there direct from Edinburgh.
When you think about travelling to Spain to catch some rays, you probably imagine lying on a sun lounger on the Costa Del Sol, or enjoying a drink at a pretty beach bar in Benidorm or Tenerife.
San Sebastian is famous for its beautiful golden beaches, and balmy sea temperatures that average 23C or above from June to November. After all of that exertion, you have a choice of not one, but two beach bars to enjoy a refreshing pint and watch the sun go down. Mendaur Berria has over 1000 five star reviews on TripAdvisor, with visitors praising the wide variety of small plates on offer. One person who visited in October 2024 wrote: "The food was fantastic! Softshell crab, octopus in three sauces, pork belly, zucchini, risotto, and you have to have the brioche dessert!"
If all of this sounds delightful, but you're worried that getting to San Sebastian will be a faff, don't be.
