Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo has added to her colorful career the world champion title. The 31-year-old Zamboanga City native ruled the 55-kilogram category of the World Championships of the International Weightlifting Federation on Wednesday in Bogota, Colombia. Diaz-Naranjo won the title with a total lift of 207kgs, winning a total of three gold medals as she also had the best scores in snatch and in clean and jerk.
The Athlete of the Year of the Philippine Sportswriter Association had a lift of 93kgs in snatch and had 114kgs in the clean and jerk.Diaz tried at 117 and 121 but registered no-lift in both attempts.The gold medals were the first for Diaz-Naranjo in the world championship, which came a year after she gave the Philippines its first gold medal in the Olympics.
