West Lindsey District Council's legal challenge to the Home Office's proposal for RAF Scampton will proceed to a full judicial review.
Over the past few days, the local authority has attended a permission hearing at London's Royal Courts of Justice in an attempt to prevent up to 2,000 asylum seekers from being housed at the former home of the Dambusters. The council's plea was granted by Mrs Justice Thornton DBE on Friday, who ruled the case would proceed to a full review.
Her decision was based on multiple grounds, notably, whether the government was right to use Class Q planning permission. Following a similar pattern to the West Lindsey case, both the Braintree District Council and Clarke-Holland were granted permission to move forward with a full judicial review.
