Motorists are being warned to keep their cars clean
Drivers are being warned that having a dirty or messy car could lead to a £1,000 fine as per a Highway Code rule. The Code, which is essentially the law of the road, is in place to keep drivers, cyclists and pedestrians as safe as possible while out and about.
Not only that, but experts at BookMyGarage have highlighted that other than fines, not regularly cleaning your car could come at a cost. Regular cleaning should be considered an important part of maintenance, as you would topping up air in your tyres, engine oil or water. The car repair experts consider dirt to be like sandpaper, in that when it's left to build up, it can start to erode the surfaces it covers.
Things like bird droppings, tree sap, and road grime can be corrosive. If you don’t clean away these contaminants quickly, they can eat away at the protective coatings and paint, leading to permanent damage, and a £150 dent in your wallet to repair it.
