For the last year, Nikeeta Sriram says she has watched helplessly as her tenant turned her L.A. home into a lucrative Airbnb against her will.
Nikeeta Sriram would love to live in her Mid-Wilshire home. But she can’t because, for the last two years, a steady stream of guests have been able to live there. They just had to click an online link. Caught in an Airbnb ordeal, Sriram has seen property damage racking up while she fights to win back her home, her lawsuit alleges. Social media shows that the man accused of taking over the rental, Nicholas Jarzabek, currently lives 5,000 miles away in England.
The response from Jacobs was either automated or apathetic: “Dear Nikeeta, Welcome and Thank You. You will have a great time here.” After the back-and-forth, the listings were removed, but new ones were created shortly after. In the meantime, Sriram filed for an eviction through the L.A. Housing Department, and in April she filed a cease and desist to Jarzabek’s attorney.
