The funds will go towards stabilisation and conservation works at the site.
North Ayrshire Council has agreed a £263,420 boost from the Irvine Common Good which will be used to allow experts to carry out stabilisation and conservation works at the site.
Design, investigation and preparatory works have since taken played with a revised project being approved. There have also been ongoing meetings and discussions with Historic Environment Scotland, including on site and investigative works; archaeological digs, topographical reports, soil tests, tree removal and vegetation clearance.
